CT Photographer Langston Bowen discusses his plans with photography, being a portrait artist, fashion, projects, and more!

Interview / Photographers – It was my very first interview with Langston Bowen and I learned some interesting things about him after going through the answers I received after sending him questions for an interview he agreed to do after being invited over messenger over a week. I have been on a quest to discover the latest news from a bunch of talented people I’m connected to through our social media pages. Langston was one of the people I saw as worthy for an interview so he was definitely someone I picked. I hope you enjoy reading it!

Internet Hollywood: What’s up Langston?! Welcome to the Internet Hollywood universe. This is our very first interview together, so I’m definitely excited to see some of the answers you’re going to have for my questions. Before we get things moving, could you give our readers a brief background story on who you are, where you from, and what you do?

_

Langston: Hey there Justin! Thank you for the invitation to be interviewed and I appreciate you taking the time to reach out to me! To give a brief summary on myself I am a visual storyteller and creative based out of eastern Connecticut for the time being and I currently am focused on Photography for foreseeable future.

Internet Hollywood: What was the process like developing the skills you needed with a camera to do photography and now that your more experienced what is your “go to” camera to use when you start shooting?

_

Langston: Developing the skills for photography were mostly on the side of understanding a camera as I had a strong fundamental art background due to being a portrait artist prior to picking up a camera. I used to draw with my primary medium was charcoal on paper. I’ve always been big on working with my hands and unafraid to get dirty and that has now translated while I’m shooting whether its using nature such as dirt, leaves and twigs or if I’m constructing new things together like veils or dresses.
I suppose to answer your second part of the question is that shoot primarily Nikon specifically a D750 model and my go to lens is the Sigma Art 35 1.4 but I tend not to focus on that because I’ve taken high quality images with cameras not as fancy and still use them in my portfolio to this day.

Internet Hollywood: What services are you currently offering people, do you have rates for it, and what kind of photo shoots are you normally open to doing?

_

Langston: Currently I will shoot just about anything if people will pay me appropriately for it as I love to generally shoot conceptual work and have now been bringing my love of fashion to the forefront again. I tend to prioritize those kinds of shoots. I will say that I enjoy shooting just about anything because I would say that I am happiest when I either have my kids around or when there is a camera in my hand. So I do have rates but I am also open to doing anything but my favorite kind of work to shoot is either conceptual, fashion, or things involving love such as weddings and engagements, baby showers and family portraits as well as birthday parties.

_

Internet Hollywood: Are you currently working on any projects now?

_

Langston: Currently I have been focusing a lot of the objectification and abuse on women in America and figuring out ways that I can portray that in my work. Also I just recently announced that I will be continuing where I left off on my seven deadly sins concept and will now try to tackle the seven heavenly virtues and will most likely have that be the main exhibit at my next solo gallery. I also have a great friend of mine who we both will be creating something very special that I can’t talk to much about yet but I am pretty excited to get started on it when she comes back to CT.

_

Internet Hollywood: What goals do you wish you accomplish this year and what is the vision you have for the future when the smoke clears and all of your goals are finally accomplished?

_

Langston: Ideally I want to make photography my primary source of income by the end of the year or at least fall shot by making it 2/3rd of my total income. I want to host another gallery but on a grander scale and make more of a name for myself locally as a serious photographer to not just my peers but the general public. Outside of photography I want to grow as a father to my son and daughter and to be a proper example to them on how a man should be as well as be a better person to those around me and give more time and affection to those I love and care about because I feel like sometimes I am such a workaholic that I neglect certain aspects of myself in exchange for meeting my deadlines.

_

Internet Hollywood: Thank you for the interview, Langston!
