Internet Hollywood: Hey Sarah Starlight! Thank you for taking some time out of your day to answer my questions. I’m glad it didn’t take too long for us to make this happen. It feels like it was only yesterday when I messaged you. Lol. What made you fall in love with the art of designing and wanting to be model?
Sarah: I feel as though I wanted to express myself through fashion design and modeling since I was a little kid. I have always dressed in unique outfits that are far off from anything that was trending. My creativity is most defined in these art forms. Modeling feels like acting to me, like taking on a role of whoever I envision. When I started modeling and using my designs for photoshoots 5 years ago, I knew I’d continue with it because it felt right and invigorating to express my passions.
Internet Hollywood: Designing clothes doesn’t look easy. How long did it take for you to learn how to design and what some of the things you design now?
Sarah: It only took 2 years after starting to create regularly for me to feel confident with my sewing skills and crafting accessories. I also achieved my first college degree in Fashion Design so I have a lot of experience. I am currently focused on creating headpieces, corsets, and dresses.
Internet Hollywood: Modeling is a very powerful symbol of expression and many that realize that tries to imagine bigger for their careers by expanding into other fields. Do you plan on exploring other fields besides designing and modeling in the future?
Sarah: Besides modeling and designing, I am pursuing a career in psychology. I just recently got accepted to start my master’s degree in mental health counseling in the fall.
Internet Hollywood: What kind of photo shoots are you open to doing when collaborating with a photographer and do you charge rates?
Sarah: I’m open to a variety of styles for photoshoots, but I tend to gravitate to fantasy, conceptual, and emotional concepts. My designs match fantasy/fairytale styles best. I also like to do artistic shots with some emotional expression. I try to be versatile with the looks I create for my shoots. I’ve done looks from gentle, light fairytales, to dark and bloody. I hope to make my portfolio as diverse as I can. I have fun taking on a new role that I’m not used to. Most of the time, I work for trade, but I do charge rates under certain circumstances.
Internet Hollywood (Question 5): What kind of connections are you looking for and what goals do you have set this year to bring you closer to achieving your dreams?
Sarah: I’m looking to connect with anyone who wants to create art as much as I do! My goals, especially for this summer, are to shoot as much as my schedule allows, and to somehow connect my passions for designing and psychology together to create an innovative idea for a photoshoot project or a line of designs.
Internet Hollywood: What made you choose the name “Starlight” to represent your last name?
Sarah: I go by the name Starlight because of my love for space, the universe, and my hope to radiate some positive light out into the world. I’ve been told that it seems to fit my personality. I think it fits well with my image and purpose.
Internet Hollywood: And to finish this interview off; are you currently planning anything or working on anything at the moment?
Sarah: I’m currently planning a few shoots featuring some accessories pieces I recently created. Other than that, I’m looking to book my schedule with a variety of projects for the summer.
Internet Hollywood: Thank you for the awesome interview, Sarah!
