Internet Hollywood: What’s up Mark?! Welcome back to the Internet Hollywood universe. It’s always great having someone of your caliber chat with us about your upcoming plans for 2019. I look forward to reading some of your questions. How did you celebrate the new year and did you make any resolutions?

_

Mark: I usually take advantage of the Holidays to catch up on work. No resolutions, just continuing on the path I have chosen.

_

Internet Hollywood: It’s no secret that photography has become so popular for many people for many reasons. I believe the age of digital platforms like Instagram kinda brought a new breed of “photographers” who don’t really understand what photography is really about. Some tend to buy a camera and take a couple pictures with their friends and think that’s all there is to it. Judging by your experience, how would you define a real photographer and what are some of the do’s and don’ts a real photographer keeps in mind while continuing to build his/her legacy?

_

Mark: I’m not big on labels if someone wants to call themselves a photographer, who am I to say they aren’t? I’ve known people that don’t consider themselves photographers but can take amazing photographs. Ultimately it is your body of work that will define you. Best advice I can give, is don’t get caught up in trends. I mean, it’s ok to let a trend influence you, but if you’re just shooting the way everyone else is at any given time because it’s the cool new thing, you’ll struggle to stand out and be noticed. Developing your own style is the only way to establish a lasting legacy

_

Internet Hollywood: You’re one of the most talented people I saw with a camera by far. I only wonder what kind of magic you plan on bringing to life as we deeper in the year. Are you currently working on anything right now?

_

Mark: I recently wrapped up a book project I’ve been working on for a fashion designer in Boston. This year I’ll be focused on some travel and continued shooting with new people.

_

Internet Hollywood: I noticed many photographers have decided to start doing films to expand their brand behind the camera. Are you planning on trying out anything new to add to the collection of finished projects you already have piled up?

_

Mark: Still, photography will always be my mainstay. I may from time to time dabble in some video production but I don’t have the time to dedicate to do it the way I would really want to if I went in that direction.

_

Internet Hollywood: Last hot topic question, what would you say was the biggest lesson you learned last year and did you change anything about yourself or your everyday life this year to make sure you avoid mistakes and this year is better than the last?

_

Mark: I stay positive, see the best in other people and strive for a “better self” each and every day, so “lessons learned” in the traditional sense are few and far between. I prefer to learn my lessons with intent.

_

Internet Hollywood: Thank you for the interview, Mark!
