Hartford Police Sergeant suspended for telling a group on Heath Street that he’s ‘trigger happy’

CT News – According to Fox 61, A Hartford Sergeant by the name of Stephen Barone has been suspended after a video surfaced online that shows him telling a group of people on Heath Street that he’s ‘Trigger Happy’ before adding that he gets paid a ton of money in overtime if he had to shoot someone.

“At this point, you’re all being stopped under suspicion of trespassing. We’re going to get everyone’s information. We’re going to go through and make sure no one has guns or drugs on ‘em, and we’re going to get everyone’s name. If anyone wants to fight or run… I’m a little trigger-happy guys, I’m not gonna lie, and I get paid a ton of money in overtime, if I had to shoot somebody. Don’t do anything stupid.”

Hartford police Assistant Chief Rafael Medina responded in an email to community leaders saying internal affairs have started an investigation and Barone has been placed on leave.

When one of the people from the group stated his comment was “spooky” he responded back “Well it’s four of you and one of me.” The officer suspected the group of trespassing.
