Melissa Ann of Cosmic Unicornz to show off her collection at RuPauls Dragcon in LA in May, discusses designing, upcoming projects, her salon, and more!

Interviews – It’s obvious that Internet Hollywood has always been a busy place when it comes to getting all of the latest updates we need on talented people from all over the states but this next person I interviewed is one of the most busiest and creative people I know. I had the great pleasure in getting in touch with fashion designer Melissa Ann of Cosmic Unicornz to get the inside scoop on all of her latest news, updates, upcoming projects, and more. I had invited the designer to do the interview in late March and she kindly opened up and filled me in with all of the information I needed to know. I hope you enjoy reading the interview!

Internet Hollywood: What’s up Melissa?! It’s an honor having someone who work as hard as you back in the Internet Hollywood universe. It has been a long time since we chatted and I appreciate you taking the time to answer a couple of my questions I have written for you. I’m sure your answers will open our mind up to what you currently have going on and how much you mind has changed since you first started fashion designing. How has the year 2019 been going and what are some of the projects that you’re currently working on?

_

Melissa: 2019 has been a crazy year for me so far! I relocated my sewing studio from Boston to Worcester, Massachusetts. A very positive, exciting change for me. My creativity has been at an all time high. Im taking on many custom orders for music festival outfits, and working on a new collection that I will be presenting at RuPauls Dragcon, in Los Angeles this May!

_

Internet Hollywood: I remember when we spoke before you explained how promoting yourself through your phone was like an addiction. Do you still feel that same hunger to push yourself like you use to or has things changed with time as the years passed?

_

Melissa: I feel this more so than ever!!! Most of my orders right now come from instagram! I’ll post a photo of a finished fashion piece and write “DM to Order” and I get a flood of responses! I believe the future of selling online will be like this. Websites or a 3rd party selling platforms will become obsolete.

_

Internet Hollywood: I also remember you opened a 3-month boutique pop-up shop. You stated “My goal for this year is to just continue to push myself and be authentic.” After attracting many clients including celebrities, do you feel you managed to achieve that or do you feel more work has to be done?

_

Melissa: First of all, my 3 month boutique at 333 Salon has become a fulltime gig! Myself and several other local designers share this popup shop called the Haus of Threes. I take private shopping appointments there, fittings, and walk in shoppers are welcome! The popup is all about artists supporting each other on their journeys.

_

Melissa: My hard work is NEVER done! I would love to design a tour wardrobe for an arena level performer someday, or design a red carpet look! Its all about the climb!

_

Internet Hollywood: You have always put together incredible events that showcases colorful designs that you put together. Are you preparing any new collections in the future and possibly doing a fashion show for it to show it off?

_

Melissa: I will be having a big fashion show this fall… stay tuned for lots of sequins, animal print, and spikes!!! Thank you for that compliment.

_

Internet Hollywood: What kind of pieces do you currently have for sale and where could people go to purchase it?

_

Melissa: To see alllllllll of my work, visit my Instagram @cosmic_unicornz. I make everything individually, so everything is available in any size! Send me a DM. 😉

_

Internet Hollywood: With a new year, older experience, and a greater vision on where you see yourself in the future, are there any fears that worries you? If so, how do you manage to keep any kind of emotions that troubles you under control to stay focus on getting things done and when you accomplish it does those same feelings return?

_

Melissa: I try to be fearless. The only thing I worry about it taking on too many things at once!! Im learning to say no more. Also to spend a bit more time on self-care. I tend to be a work-a-holic! Thank you for this amazing interview! Now, off to work!!

_

Internet Hollywood: Thank you for the interview, Melissa!
