Short Interviews – Model Duchess Jealoquin is giving us all the inside scoop we need on who she is and what experiences she has went through coming up as an independent model. The short interview was done after the model posted her links under a status I made requesting that all upcoming talent post their pages below. I followed each page and gave a short 5 question interview to every single one that commented.
When talking with Jealoquin we discussed the origin of her name, wanting to do all types of photo shoots, handling unwanted criticism and the plans she got lined up for the future. Enjoy the interview!
Internet Hollywood: Hey Duchess! It’s definitely a pleasure to be interviewing you again. The last time we talked you gave your thoughts about Hayley Cartwright’s waterfall shoot with Eric Wallis Photography. Now I could finally ask you a few questions about yourself now. Before we begin could you let our readers know who you are and what you do?
Jealoquin: When it comes to me I’m an enigma wrapped in confusion with a dash of intensity. I became disabled in 2010 when I had to stop my job working in antique car restoration. From then I’ve been searching for my place in the world. Trying to battle the stigma that although I may be in a wheelchair, I am still an interesting human beyond that. That’s why I enjoy modeling so much. It allows me the freedom to express myself using my greatest medium, my body. I am a Jill of all trades really, if something catches my curiosity I tend to want to learn how to do it. It’s allowed me to learn some fantastic skills like homebrewing and making chain maille. You can take an artists brushes away but you can never take away their ability to create.
Internet Hollywood: What made you choose the name Duchess Jealoquin?
Jealoquin: Duchess Jealoquin actually comes from a morphed version of a name I created for larping in high school. It’s a combination of the words jealous harliquin. It evolved from there when I was given my first wheelchair. People joked that I was “holding court” during our dinners together and started calling me Duchess. From there the name just kinda melded together so to speak.
Internet Hollywood: What kind of photo shoots do you find yourself wanting to do more of?
Jealoquin: To choose one type of photo would be limiting myself. I want to do them all. Mostly I want the photos to make the viewer feel something. I want the photos to touch the viewer and elicit emotions they weren’t prepared to feel.
Internet Hollywood: How do you handle unwanted criticism about your work?
Jealoquin: Criticism is awesome as long as it’s constructive. I love finding out how I can improve myself. I can’t get better if I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
Internet Hollywood: What are some of your plans you have in store for the future that you would like everyone to know about?
Jealoquin: Try and take over the world” lol. Seriously though I’m just taking everything one day at a time. Life is incredibly short, you gotta do what you can while your body is still strong enough to do it.
Internet Hollywood: Thank you Jealoquin!
