Model Bethany McMahon discuss her influences, upcoming photo shoots, photographers that she’d like to work with, the future and more!

Beyond The Lens – Many names have been making front page news in Internet Hollywood over the last month as a reward for their hard work. I got in touch with a list of them and asked if they would like to be interviewed by Internet Hollywood and they happily said yes. One of those talented people that was contacted by us was Connecticut model Bethany McMahon.

McMahon is a model who i have been following since the beginning of this year. The model has been featured on Internet Hollywood three times since her first publication in February. This is her very first interview with Internet Hollywood. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I loved doing it!

Internet Hollywood: Hey Bethany! I’m really excited to share this special moment with you in Internet Hollywood. For our readers that don’t know, this is your first interview with Internet Hollywood. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing your answers to our questions. Now for those that don’t know, could you please let them know who you are and what you do?

McMahon: I’m so excited to do my first Internet Hollywood interview! Thank you for thinking of me! For those who don’t know who I am (probably most of you) I’m Bethany McMahon and I’m a Connecticut based freelance model who’s been in the game for a few years now. Creating art is my passion.

Internet Hollywood: When did you embrace the feeling of wanting to be a model and who influenced you to do it?

McMahon: Growing up I always loved playing dress up and I never really grew out of it. In person I’m very mellow and chill but when I’m in front of a camera I get to be someone completely different and it’s so much fun for me. When I see the final photos and we nailed it, it’s a indescribable feeling. I take on different roles and get to express myself in ways I wouldn’t necessarily do in my normal day to day living. I always wanted to model but coming from a strict military family I was not encouraged to follow my dreams. One day when I was old enough to think more independently I got the courage to ask a girl I knew, who has a contract with a New York agency, what should I do to first break into the scene. It took almost another year from when I asked her to actually take the plunge and go for it. But I did it.

Internet Hollywood: You have been taking on a great deal of photo shoots recently. I always find time to browse through your Instagram to see some of the awesome work that you have done with other upcoming talent. What are some of the things that you are working on now?

McMahon: I have a few projects in the works. I’ve been planning a shoot with a Project Runway designer that is going to be fire and I’ve been planning shoots with more photographers I’ve never worked with before but have wanted to.

Internet Hollywood: Who are some of the photographers that you would like to work with?

McMahon: I almost answered this question in the last question. I’m working on planning something for the future with Mosaab Alsaray that is guaranteed to be awesome. I’d love to get together with Nic Chow, I love his work, and JZ Zurawski is incredible too.

Internet Hollywood: What style of modeling are you are into and open to explore?

McMahon: I love art. I’m open to most styles but for personal reasons don’t do nudes. I will rarely do something implied if I’m super comfortable with the photographer. If you are uncomfortable it shows in your photos so I only do things that I’m excited and passionate about.

Internet Hollywood: You are probably one of the most calm and easiest people to talk to. Do you keep yourself that way to avoid stepping on someones toes the wrong way?

McMahon: Thank you! I’m not so much afraid of a confrontation as much as I just really hate drama. A lot of things aren’t important in the big picture of life and aren’t worth getting worked up over. I do get fired up from time to time, after all I’m only human, but I feel it’s more the exception than the rule. People that don’t really know me might just think I’m quiet and that can sometimes be interpreted as shy or afraid but after talking to me for 5 minutes you learn that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Internet Hollywood: What was the first steps you took to gain the connections you have to do photo shoots?

McMahon: First I reached out to a girl who had a legitimate modeling contact and asked her for guidance. She gave me a few photographers to reach out to and also suggested Model Mayhem as well. Model Mayhem really got me going in this industry. Signing up for them opened me up to so many local photographers who wanted to do the same thing as me. Create art we are passionate about. From there I met Isabel, who I know you all know, and she invited me to group shoots which just continued to expand my circles.

Internet Hollywood: If modeling doesn’t work the way you want it to where do you see yourself ending up in the future?

McMahon: Funny, I often ask myself the same question. I only recently came up with a solution and I’m excited to share it with you today! I just signed up for classes to get my real estate license. It’s something I’ve thought about in the past but I’ve always hated school and didn’t want to go back. It’s the right time in my life though and it’s only a two month course. I’m looking forward to learning about something new and adding a skill to my resume. Ain’t nothin to it but to do it!

Internet Hollywood: Thank you for the interview Bethany. Keep up the amazing work!
