Model Reina Raven talks becoming a first-time homeowner, exploring new concepts for shoots, how her weight loss journey turned into a modeling one and more!

Beyond The Lens – Independent Massachusetts model Reina Raven is bringing her light to our front page after finishing up a great interview with me on the website. We actually did the interview at the beginning of the month, but after doing an overwhelming amount of interviews, I sadly forgot that I didn’t post this.

I’m so happy that I did some digging to make sure I didn’t lose stories while completing the goal of doing 150 interviews in a two week period. Raven has always shown some level of support for what I been doing and I have been keeping an eye out on some of the great work she has done in the past. It is one of the reasons I wanted to find out about her work in the future. I hope you enjoy the interview!

Internet Hollywood: Hey Reina! Believe it or not, I been wanting to interview you for a long time! I do apologize for not being able to before. I definitely promise to make up all my faults this year. How are you enjoying the new year so far? Did you make a resolution?

Raven: Hello! Not a worry at all, we all get consumed by life’s responsibilities from time to time! As for me, so far 2018 has been pretty magical for me! Just before Christmas, my boyfriend and I closed on our house, making us first-time homeowner, just in time for the new year! Just when I thought things couldn’t get any better, my boyfriend dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him! It was the happiest moment of 2018 and of my life thus far! As for resolutions, I no longer make a resolution for the new year, but instead try to make small goals and progress toward them throughout the year. Recently, I managed to reach my goal of no longer being a daily cigarette smoker! This is something I’ve wanted to accomplish for a long time, so I’m pretty proud of myself!

Internet Hollywood: Is there anything that you want to try out this year that you haven’t done last year?

Raven: There are still so many concepts that I was interested in last year and would still absolutely love to bring to life this year! One of these ideas is in the works with a photographer who is hard at work building the wardrobe and I’d expect you to see the fruits of our labor by July! 😉 Other than that, I’d also love to branch out with more creative concepts as well as with more nude art modeling.

Internet Hollywood: What changes would you say you have made to make 2018 better?

Raven: To make 2018 better I’ve done a few things alone as well as with my better half. Together, we’ve had a fresh start in a beautiful new home; we are now engaged, planning our wedding and keeping our minds and hearts open for what’s to come. Personally, I’ve quit smoking cigarettes, started to become more and more motivated by exercise and progress, and I recently started a new job!

Internet Hollywood: Who are some of your favorite photographers to work with and who are some that you would like to work with?

Raven: Of all the photographers that I’ve worked with thus far, Paul Provencher stands out due to all the hard work and passion that he puts into his shoots to create art! Not only that, he’s great company! Punctual, respectful, great sense of humor- he makes the whole experience fun and artistic! Of photographers I’d like to shoot with, Raven Macabre, Jenny Thompson, and Lisen Gonsalves are just a few that pop into my head. Each of them has a beautiful vision and produces gorgeous works of art!

Internet Hollywood: What inspired you to want to invest time in making modeling career and what has been your biggest challenge as an independent model?

Raven: When I first began modeling, I was at the beginning of a weight loss journey and in the midst of “finding myself”. Modeling helped me boost my confidence and helped me continue to work toward my goals. I don’t know that it would ever serve as a career, however, because paid work is not consistent. My investment in modeling is in the art that is produced from it. That’s enough for me ☺️. My biggest challenge as an independent model has been not being able to bring all of my ideas to fruition. (I think faster than I book 😅)

Internet Hollywood: Do you want to stay independent or sign with an agency?

Raven: I think I’d much rather remain a freelance model for now! This gives me the freedom to pursue the artistic concepts that come to me.

Internet Hollywood: Last question; what is the biggest lesson you learned last year?

Raven: The biggest lesson 2017 taught me, in regards to modeling, was not to force things. Everyone has conflicting schedules/availabilities and things don’t always go according to plan. Sometimes those situations can make a model/photog/MUA feel discouraged or like quitting. Remember why you do what you do and continue to make yourself happy!

Internet Hollywood: Thank you for the interview, Raven!
